Council Member David R. Montague is serving his first term on City Council in Position No. 6 (January 4, 2016 - January 6, 2020)
Education and Experience
David grew up in an Army family and enjoyed moving around the country and living in new places. He attended high schools in Alexandria, VA, Carlisle, PA, and graduated from WT Woodson High School in Fairfax, VA. He then went on to graduate from Colorado School of Mines as a Petroleum Engineer in 1971 and went to work for Shell Oil Company in Denver, CO. He and his wife Mary both had many challenging and varied work experiences in difference locations over the years. After 41 years, David retired from Shell in 2013.
Areas of Interest
David is an Elder at ChristChurch Presbyterian in Bellaire and is Clerk of Session. He is also the Secretary of the Bellaire Southwest Rotary Club and active in the Houston Senior Golf Association. In addition to golf, David also likes art, travelling to New Mexico to fly fish, seeing the Santa Fe Opera and playing bridge with Mary.
David and Mary have been married for 44 years and have lived in Bellaire for 19 years. They share their home with an energetic terrier named Peanut. Mary retired in 2003 and is active in several volunteer and service organizations in the Greater Houston area. She particularly enjoys volunteering with the Museum of Fine Arts Houston where she is just beginning her term as membership co-chair for the MFAH Guild.
