City Manager

Brant Gary is currently the Interim City Manager of the City of Bellaire.

Experience

Brant has over 18 years of experience working for Texas cities, as well as previous positions in the private sector. He started his career in local government at West University Place and since worked for various other cities including the largest in the state, some of the smallest, along with one of the fastest-growing cities in Texas.

Brant earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Masters degree in Public Administration from the University of Houston. He also has a Masters degree in Human Resource and Leadership Development from Louisiana State University (Geaux Tigers!) and a Doctorate degree in Public Administration through Valdosta State University.

Manager Duties

The City Manager's duties are detailed in the City Charter. In summary, the City Manager is responsible for the efficient operation of all city functions. Those duties include personnel administration, budget development and management, and enforcing city ordinances.

Being engaged and accessible is an enjoyable top priority for the City Manager.

Personal Life

Brant was born in Louisiana, but has his years of government service entirely in Texas. He currently lives in Bellaire with his family. He has been a member of several professional organizations over the years, including the Texas City Management Association, and the International City/County Management Association. He has also served as an Adjunct Faculty Member for Lone Star College for over 15 years teaching both Federal and State & Local Government.
