Patrol Division

Lt. Jeff Cotton commands the Patrol Division which is the largest division in the department. He began his career with the Bellaire Police Department in 1998. Lt. Cotton has held the positions of Bailiff, Crime Prevention Officer, Corporal, Sergeant, and now Lieutenant. Lt. Cotton holds a TCOLE Master Peace Officer Certificate and is currently a member of the Tactical Team and Bike Team.

The Patrol Division operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The officers in this division are generally the first to respond to calls for service. Duties performed by this division include:

  • Enforcement of state and municipal laws
  • Traffic enforcement
  • Preliminary criminal investigations
  • Accident investigations
  • Assisting lost or stranded motorists

The Patrol Division consists of three shifts:

  • Day Shift
  • Evening Shift
  • Night Shift
