ESB Learning Academy - Backyard Composting

Tuesday, May 16, 2023

Presented by Steve Stelzer

Backyard composting is great for gardeners and zero waste aficionados.  This class is also good for folks who are a bit nervous to try it, or tried it and had a bad experience.  Steve, who has delivered Master Composter Trainings for STAR over the years, has refined his presentation to speak plainly with lots of photographs and even a short video to show how it’s done at your house and has some samples.  He covers how to do it, what equipment and containers work best, how composting works from Mother Nature’s standpoint, and why it’s good for the environment, not to mention what can go wrong and how to avoid that.

Steve Stelzer currently serves as the program director for the City of Houston’s Green Building Resource Center in downtown Houston and is a resident of West University Place, serving on their Recycling Board and their Sustainability Task Force.

Registration is encourgaed but not required.
