Corporal Jimmie Norman Posthumously Promoted to Sergeant

Bellaire, Texas (December 26,2012). . Effective 7:00 AM on Tuesday December 25, 2012 Corporal Jimmie Norman of the Bellaire Police Department was posthumously promoted to the rank of Police Sergeant. Sergeant Norman had been scheduled for promotion after the first of the year. Norman was shot and killed by a suspect at the end of a vehicle pursuit on the morning of Christmas Eve.

The posthumous promotion was made by Chief Byron Holloway of the Bellaire Police Department to honor Sergeant Norman and recognize Norman's contributions to the City of Bellaire. Sergeant Norman qualified for the promotion during a competitive process held earlier this fall.

The community is invited to celebrate Sergeant Norman's life as scheduled below:

Funeral - Date: Saturday December 29, 2012
Time: 2:00 PM
Location: Houston's First Baptist Church

The Officers of the Bellaire Police Department and the family of Sergeant Norman ask that the community keep the family of Terry Taylor in their thoughts and prayers. Terry Taylor was the owner of the Maaco Collision Repair & Auto Painting located int eh 5600 Block of Bellaire. Mr. Taylor was shot and killed by the suspect as Taylor came to the aid of Sergeant Norman.
