This week we spotlight Detective Monica Andrade in the Bellaire Police Department.
Detective Monica Andrade has been a dedicated member of the Bellaire Police Department 2008. She began her career with the department as a Telecommunications Operator, serving five years in that role before becoming a full-time peace officer in 2015.
Her strong work ethic and attention to detail quickly set her apart. After several years of patrol experience, she applied for and was selected to serve as a rotating detective, later earning a full-time assignment to the Criminal Investigations Division in 2021.
From 2022 to 2024, Detective Andrade was assigned to the Houston Area DEA Drug Diversion Task Force, where she worked alongside federal partners to combat the illegal sale of controlled substances.
Today, she continues to serve as a detective in the Criminal Investigations Division, known for her professionalism, enthusiasm, and persistence in every case she handles. In addition to her investigative work, she also shares her expertise by teaching the investigative process in the Bellaire Citizens Police Academy classes.
Her persistence and commitment to justice recently led to her assignment on a cold case homicide from December 1985. The department hopes that her tenacity will be able to bring closure and justice to the victim’s family after nearly four decades.
