[ARCHIVED] Hurricane Preparedness Week - May 24th-May 30th

Hurricane Preparedness Week in Texas is the week of May 24th through May 30th. This is an opportunity to remind Texans along the coast that storm season predictions are only predictions and "all it takes is one" to do devastating damage to a community. It is also an opportunity to remind Texans in other areas of the state to monitor broadcast media for information about hurricanes because these deadly storms can cause flooding and tornadoes hundreds of miles away. In addition, evacuations have an impact on highway traffic and communities far from the coast as evacuees seek shelter.

Please be mindful to double check your emergency supply kits and go over your emergency plans - and talk to neighbors who may be new to the Texas coast.
