Letters to Santa

Traditionally, Santa makes his grand appearance in the City of Bellaire at the Annual Holiday in the Park event. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, Holiday in the Park is being reimagined. This year we are hosting a COVID-19 friendly drive-through event that allows participants to see Santa and his workshop from their vehicles safely and give their letters to the elves for Santa.

Santa Sightings
December 14 - 18

Sources from the North Pole predict that Santa will be back in Bellaire one more time before Christmas. The happy elves have reported that he will be riding atop a fire truck on your street to wave hello and wish you all good cheer! Be on the lookout for Santa on these dates between 6 and 8:30 pm:

December 16    North of Bellaire Blvd./West of 610

Trash Bag Delivery
December 5 & 6

The City of Bellaire is delivering trash bags this month to residents on the weekend of December 5 and 6. Additional bags may be purchased for $5.95 per roll at Bellaire City Hall in the Customer Service lobby located at 7008 South Rice Avenue.

City Office Holiday Closures &
Holiday Solid Waste Schedule

In recognition of the Holidays, all City Offices including the Library and Recreation Center will be closed and there will be no solid waste service on Thursday, December 24, 2020 through Friday, December 25, 2020 and January 1, 2021. The Library will be closed Saturday, December 26. Please note the following changes to the solid waste pickup schedule:

December 24, 2020
Areas A, B, and E solid waste will resume on the next scheduled pick up day (December 28)
Area C, limbs/brush will be picked up on Monday, December 28

December 25, 2020
Area A, limbs/brush will be picked up on Thursday, December 31
Area E, recycle will resume on the next scheduled pick up day (December 29)
Area C and D solid waste will resume on the next scheduled pick up day (December 29)

January 1, 2021
Area A, limbs/brush will be picked up on Monday, January 4
Area E, recycle will resume on the next scheduled pick up day (January 8)
Area C and D solid waste will resume on the next scheduled pick up day (January 5)

Christmas Tree Recycling

The Christmas tree recycling program will be available to residents from December 28, 2020, until January 15, 2021. During this time, trees may be dropped off at the designated collection area located at the southeast corner of Baldwin Avenue and Edith Street. Place your tree in the parking lot near the tree recycling sign. Please remove all ornaments, tinsel, tree stands, and lights before you recycle. Flocked trees will not be accepted for recycling.
