Bellaire City Library Fee Schedule
The following fines are hereby charged and shall be collected upon the failure of any borrower to return any book, audiovisual material or other item which was loaned by the library to the borrower by the due date established at the time of the loan or renewal of the item. In addition, damage fees may also be charged on any library material or equipment damaged beyond normal wear and tear.
Fines are charged for each day the material is kept beyond the established due date until the maximum fine is reached. All items borrowed from this library must be returned to this library in order to fulfill the return agreement. Items, which are deposited in the library's book drop after closing hours, shall be considered to have been returned to the library on the last preceding day the library was open. Sundays and holidays will be included in the calculation of fines.
In addition to a replacement fee and a processing fee charged for lost and damaged items (items beyond repair), any overdue fine that has been incurred on that item will also be collected through the day of payment of the lost item.
If the item is found within three months of payment, a refund for the replacement fee only will be granted. The processing fee and overdue fees are not reimbursable.

Damaged / Lost Items
Material that is damaged beyond normal wear and tear will be assessed a mending fee, or charged a bindery or a replacement fee. Items with multiple parts that have one or more pieces missing making the item unusable will be charged replacement costs for the item. Damaged material or damaged pages are assessed a fee by the Library Director on each item, dependent on damage and possible repair.
