Water/Wastewater Projects

The 2024 Bond Proposition B, authorizing $30 mil for water/wastewater facility improvements, was passed on November 5, 2024.  This money can be used toward funding council approved projects that will/can:

  • Decommission and demolish Bellaire's wastewater treatment plant and redirect Bellaire’s wastewater to the City of Houston wastewater treatment plant or
  • Rebuild/rehab Bellaire's wastewater treatment plant and
  • Relocate and replace the Bellaire lift station and
  • Support Cypress Ditch drainage improvements by repurposing City land for stormwater detention and added greenspace

5/19/25 - Bellaire City Council passed an ordinance authorizing the City Manager to execute a Purchase and Sale Agreement with the City of Houston, Texas, whereby Bellaire will convey its Ruffino Hills Tract to Houston in exchange for three (3) Beechnut Tracts owned by Houston, Houston's agreement to treat the City of Bellaire's wastewater, and a credit against the impact fee due from Bellaire to Houston for wastewater treatment in the amount of $5,140,000.00.

5/13/2025 - We held a Community Meeting on May 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Bellaire City Hall for residents to learn more about the Wastewater Treatment Plant, ask questions, and engage with council and staff. 

4/21/2025 - City Council heard a presentation of the Cost Estimate Refinement Technical Memorandum prepared by HDR Engineering, Inc. for the City of Bellaire's Wastewater Treatment Plant and Bellaire Lift Station.
