The Bellaire City Library also serves as a hold pick up site for HPL so you may use your HPL library card to send HPL books to Bellaire for pick-up. Bellaire has a reciprocal borrowing agreement with Harris County Public Library and Pasadena Public Library so you can use your Bellaire library card to place holds on any book in our shared catalog and pick up the item at Bellaire City Library.

Library Card Application Process

To apply for a Bellaire City Library card you will need to fill out and sign a short application. The application will require your name, address, home telephone number, an alternate identification number for purposes of checkout without your library card (Texas driver's license or date of birth). You will be asked to show proof of your current address using a driver's license, current mail, lease papers, insurance papers, checks or school papers for identification. The library's automation system will notify you of holds or overdue material through email so share an email address for library use only on the application.

Children

Children who are 15 years of age and under are required to have a parent or guardian signature on the application. If the parent or guardian is not present, we will hold the material at the front circulation desk for the student until the application is properly signed.

Juveniles

Juveniles who are 16 and 17 are asked to fill out an application and a parent or guardian signature is not required. Proof of address will still be required before material can be checked out.

Lost or Stolen Cards

Do not loan your card. You are responsible for all material checked out on your card.

Report lost or stolen cards immediately and please report any change of address, telephone number or employer. For your protection we will not allow checkout of any material to a non-family member without a library card. If you wish your caregiver to check out materials for your child, please send a library card with them to the library. Parents may check out on their children's library record without the card present, but children are not allowed to borrow items on their parents' library record unless the library card is presented at time of check out. This policy will also apply to spouses.
